Modern Warfare 2

Right, so I haven't had much time to update recently. Over the last few days that has been mainly because Modern Warfare 2.

Single Player:

The single player Campaign in MW2 is a solid one, however the missions at the start (apart from the massacre) are not particularly anything new and exciting, there's missions where you horde off a bunch of insurgents then end up in a vehicle section spraying like absolute hell. And of course a good old stealth mission.

The new mission types are quite different.

You have the option to take part in a massacre, where you gun down crowds of civilians and end up fighting a couple SWAT teams at the end.

Also during the course of the game the Russians invade America, so it was interesting to play a Call of Duty game on the receiving end of an invasion.

Graphically:

The game looks great, however its not much of a stretch beyond Call of duty 4, the game has been pretty well optimized, so unlike the PC version of World at war, which took more resources and looked like a piece of shit left in the sun compared to CoD4. MW2 should run fine if your computer can run COD4, you just might miss out on peoples heads being shiny....I don't know why game developers persist in making every thing in the world shiny...but they do.

Gunz:

Simply put, theres lots of them.

Multiplayer:

The real meat of the issue. Well, MW2's multilayer naturally borrows a lot of things from its predecessor, we have the rank/unlock system again, similar perks, and game play modes.

However while there are lots of similarities, there are also massive changes:

The game now works like an Xbox360 game, since there are no dedicated servers, you join into a lobby hosted by someone, occasionally the host drops, just like on the Xbox!, yay, I'm sure this is what PC gamers wanted, the retardation of the console online systems brought to our computers. When the host drops mid game the hosting is switched to another player, which isn't a bad system and actually works quite well. Still like many PC gamers I prefer the old way myself.

Also they've added a lock to game modes, so lower ranked players can't play certian modes untill they reach the appropriate level. I guess this does keep really shitty players from jumping into a hardcore match right off the bat and getting too frustrated, but for a hardcore fan like me, this is really lame. I jumped into a hardcore match the second game I played on COD4, thought it was great and untill this day stayed with Hardcore only. So if you're a fan of hardcore, or just don't enjoy team death match, be prepared to suffer through a few TDM games untill you can play some more modes.

They have also added some stuff to make the game a bit more videogame-ish. There are lots of little things that kind of take away from the "modern combat" serious-ness envoked by the weapons and etc. When you get a "payback" kill, money shoots out from the player you've just killed. and you choose an emblem and a title for your little call sign in game, which pops up when you kill someone, get a kll streak, or just an easier way to put it, when you've done something cool. Interesting things, but not particularly neccissary.

Bottomline:

Really fun, I reccomend it, however the PC version seems a little cheaped out on.

Lee Enfield No4. MK I* Longbranch

I'll start with my personal favorite, I'm a sucker for bolt actions, and it cost me 80 Bucks! Best bang for my buck to date.

My 1943 sporterized Lee Enfleid No. 4 Mk. 1* Longbranch:

What I've done to it:

Used an iron to suck out the dings, or well, some of the dings in the stock. Then stained and finished the stock to give it a more uniform appearance. When I first got the rifle, the dull wartime production tung oil treatment was dirty and oil stained and the fore stock (or whats left of it after bubba got it) was discoloured. You can see the shiny appearance of the finish in the pic above. Not too popular with the millsurp crowd, but I wouldn't try rebuilding the stock I'd make a new one for it.

I also Installed a front sight guard. Looks cool and is easier for shooting at longer distances. I think the sight guard cost about $1.98 or something like that.

Opinions: Very easy and fun to shoot. A true British Classic

Problems: Minor amounts of surface rust are showing up.

.303 British has gone up in price recently.

.303 British compared to a 7.62x39 round.

Gunz!

Hurray, I received my first feedback on the blog! One thing and one thing only was asked for, a post about guns.

So I've decided to outline my collection in a series of posts.
